A Message from our Parent Board Chair

SGPO Chair Letter

Dear St. Gabriel family and friends,

I am Michelle Chu Rivadeneyra, the 2023-2024 Chair of the St. Gabriel Parent Organization. This is my 10th year as a St. Gabriel parent and 3rd year as a Parent Board member. On behalf of the Parent Board, I would like to welcome all of you to the new school year, with a special welcome to all of our newest families. We are excited to make this another successful school year!

As the school has fully returned to in-person activities, we are blessed that our community has remained healthy and safe. We are truly grateful in how hard all of the teachers, staff, and school administration are working to ensure that our children continue to receive an amazing education. We also continue to be thankful for all the parents in choosing to be part of the SG community, and all the hard work that you do to support our school. All the great events throughout the year would not be possible without your continuing support and participation, and we truly appreciate each and every member of the SG community.

The Parent Board works throughout the school year to plan and coordinate various events toward community building, fundraising, and helping offset financial costs while having fun and supporting our school and students. The Board serves as the liaison between the Event Chairs, the school, and the parish. We build upon the support of many parent volunteers, school staff, teachers, alumni, and parishioners to promote school-sponsored events for the growth and welfare of the students and parents.

As we enter this new school year with much excitement and enthusiasm, the Parent Board would like to invite all of you to be involved in events throughout the year, foster new friendships, support our students, and help raise meaningful funds for the school. We started this year with the Welcome Back Breakfast on the first day of school, and continued with our annual WBC Chocolate Sale and Tailgate event. We have many exciting events planned throughout the year, and we hope that you can join us, or better yet, volunteer if you can!

If you are a new family to the SG community this year, we highly encourage you to volunteer in our fundraising events. It is a great way to meet other families, your children’s friends, and the teachers and staff as well. We have a wonderful parent community at SG, and the support you will provide and receive in return will enrich our community as a whole.

The funds raised in these events goes back to the school which benefits our children and their education. The school has used fundraising dollars to upgrade school technologies, school grounds and equipment, updated computer labs, and many other improvements to offer our children a top-notch education in a safe and nurturing environment.

I continue to learn and grow as a parent throughout my years as a SG parent. I am truly grateful for not just the academics the school has offered to my children, but in teaching them to blossom into responsible, respectful, and faith-filled citizens of the local and global community. My time at SG continues to be filled with undeniable support and friendships that will last for years throughout.

Please feel free to contact any Parent Board member or myself if you have any questions or ideas you would like to share.

Truly,

Michelle Chu Rivadeneyra
